“If you don’t change direction, you may end up where you’re heading” - Lao Tzu

A quick dispatch from Marrakech, where I’m situated this week to lead a workshop on autonoetic consciousness and its future-proofing capabilities. Sounds mystical, but it’s actually birthed in neuroscience - when put to task with spatial visualisation and somatic intelligence exercises, it helps our brains (and bodies) better equip for the complexities ahead.

“I contain multitudes”, said Walt Whitman, who staunchly declared himself Parisian though he never set foot in France. For me, Paris is a perfect example of intersecting elements at work - where else values intellect so highly, while equally serving creative expression and honouring sensorial pleasure?

The best of Paris’s intellectual and artistic events each week

If you missed last week’s announcement, there’s now a referral program in place for premium memberships, aka: get rewarded for helping others have a better week in Paris (and for helping me get this creative beast of mine further out in the world).

Details on how to play here

Art salve

Musée Bourdelle (14e)

I’ll be honest, I’ve been holding this one close to my chest: it’s one of my all-time favourite Paris museums, the perfect Goldilocks mix of large enough to merit the metro ride, yet not so well known that you can’t see the artworks for the people.

Bourdelle’s large-scale sculptures are featured both inside and out, with the chance to also explore the studio where he brought them all to life.

Events

Free subscribers receive my selection of three events each week, with the full list available to premium subscribers.

  • Mon 20 Nov
    Atelier Sound Healing
    , Le Centre Element (4e), 6:30 - 8:30pm

As Rumi once said, "There is a voice that does not use words. Listen!" Afghan father and daughter duo Ismaël and Alia use instruments from Central Asia, breathwork and intuitive dance to show how music can be food for the soul.

    45€. Buy your ticket

  • Thur 23

    Hervé Celcal, Médiathèque musicale de Paris(1e), 8 - 10pm

Creole jazz pianist Hervé Celcal is remarkably ambidextrous, playing traditional drum motifs on the piano with the left hand, and matching melodies with the right. He’ll be accompanied by a cohort of drummers.

    Free. Reserve your spot

  • Sat 25

Atelier de Cuir Upcyclé, Galerie Joseph Charlot (3e), 2 - 3pm

Discover the beautiful and sustainable art of upcycled leather with Roberto Asmat, a passionate artisan from Peru. He’ll be sharing his creative process, and guiding you in crafting a piece of your own.

    [FR] Free. Reserve your spot

» The full event line-up is only available for premium subscribers, whose support makes this curation possible. Not yet a premium member? You can upgrade now to access this week’s events. «
