The Paris Chapter: 22 - 28 April
49 events this week! Opera for peace talks, creative networking, dance workshops, an escape game performance, a cheese festival, plenty of theatre...
Hemingway’s feast in force. There’s always some cultural delight on the menu in Paris, a smattering of creative amuse-bouches here, a deeply transportive expo there. Some weeks there’s everything, everywhere, all at once: a calendar so crowded that I’m left wishing I had a dozen of each day.
This is the biggest event line-up yet. Many are in French, and I deeply encourage you - even if you’re far from fluent - to dive amongst them.
It’s frustrating to be out of your depth, absolutely, to have the subtleties of an experience wash over your head. My level of French wanders with abandon, a wistful imp with truly a mind of its own. Some days I’m so proud, staying afloat on the intricacies of car mechanics, my own little game of Articulate when I couldn’t find the word. Some days I can barely order a tea, and there’s no rationale as to where the meter falls at any particular moment.
It’s okay. As Leonard would say, “Forget your perfect offering”. There is grace in the grit, a satisfaction in successes not easily won.

BE
“But if in your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure,
Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor,
Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.”
- Khalil Gibran, The Prophet
COMMUNITY BOARD
Revived by your requests, a community section for those looking to swap / share / sublet. Reach out if you’d like to list something in the next edition.
SWAP / SUBLET: Beautiful, quiet one-bedroom apartment near the Marais, available from 3 - 13 May. Open to a swap with NYC. Email for pics & details
OLYMPIC ACCOM: Know someone coming to Paris for the Olympics, who’d like to live like a local while here (as opposed to in a tiny hotel room)? Several vetted apartments are available within the community. Email with your travel dates and we can find you the best match.
6€ gets you access to Paris’s most interesting events, advance notice of sure-to-sell-out ones, and a dedicated email service for all your Paris questions.
