The Paris Chapter: 5 - 11 Feb
Matchmaking, French pop, philosophy talks, poetry readings, circus acts, art talks, film & culture festivals, coffee meetups, sustainability pints and more.
This is precious. In autumn, I was sitting on a park bench with a friend when a little boy started toddling around us, curious. Moments later, he deposed a tiny autumn leaf (the size of his chubby fist) on my knee, a gesture soon followed by twigs and a grubby splodge of woodchips, his attempts - in his then language - of connection.
I don’t believe this innocently primitive gesture is ever lost. Aren’t we all constantly pulling something meaningful from within/around us, to lay at the knee of another? “Have you heard this song? / I can’t wait for you to read this book / Oh, I have to show you this quote…”
All precious cargo that we hope will mean something to the other: attempts - so often unconscious - to connect.
